Our Story

Venbeck was founded in 1992 by the late Hannes Venter Senior in Tzaneen, Limpopo. After working as a branch manager for Tongaat Milling, he chose to stay in the region when the local depot closed. He registered Venbeck and began trading independently, initially focusing on maize meal. By 1996 the company had expanded through the acquisition of RSA Tobacco Industries, broadening the product range to include sweets, chocolates, packaging materials and tobacco products.

In 1998 Hannes Venter Senior bought out his partner. His daughter Rachelle joined the business in 1999, followed by his son in 2001. The company continued to grow from a single-product distributor into a diversified food and beverage wholesaler. A butchery was added in 2015. In 2019 the business opened a superette and filling station in Phalaborwa, followed in 2020 by the Venbeck Café with the famous Beckatto Deli and Viva filling station in Tzaneen.
